THE GOOD NEWS - SIDE BY SIDE

My friend Ricki Wood has invited me to play along side him and Shanleigh Rose at a Side-by-Side gig in Gympie on Friday 10 July.  It is being held at the Gympie Music Hall which is located at the Australian Institute of Country Music.  A great little venue in the heart of Gympie. 

What is a side-by-side Gig

These shows are very small and personal.  Basically, the three of us are all on stage at once and each take turns in singing one of our original songs, telling the story behind each song, so you get to know more about each of us, and how and why we write our songs.

I met Ricki at a song writing workshop recently where I was lucky enough to be in his group and get the chance to write with him. Ricki has been performing way longer than me, so I was able to learn so much from him.  He is an amazing performer, written some incredible songs, has a great voice and really connects with his audience.

Shanleigh

I met Shanleigh about 4 years ago at a singing lesson and she has since been such an inspiration to me and someone that I really look up to.  She is a beautiful songwriter with the most beautiful voice.  In 2023 she won the Gympie Muster Junior Talent Search and the Capital Country Music Association Junior Song Writer of the Year.

Come along for a great show

THE BAD NEWS - NO INSTAGRAM

I have been locked out of my Instagram account!!!

In December last year, the government changed the laws on social media and banned under 16 years olds from having accounts.  That is one of the reasons I asked you all to join my mailing list.  We thought we would be OK as my Instagram account was in Dad’s name and was registered as a business account.  But, sadly, a few weeks ago, it looks like someone may have reported me and they have closed down my Instagram page. 

We have been trying to get it back but there is no way to directly call Instagram, so it is taking forever.  I am not happy about it, as I had just reached over 2000 followers, and it was the main way that I was letting everyone know what I am up to and where my next gigs are.

Lucky, Facebook was set up correctly and I can still have my FB account. So, if you were following me on Instagram, I would really love it if you can follow me on FB until I can get Instagram back.  Hopefully this will happen in the next few weeks, but if not, I turn 16 in August so can get it back then.

UPCOMING GIGS

Also, here is a reminder of the next few major gigs I have coming up. 

Stars of Charlotte Plains.  It is a three-day Festival way out west on a cattle station in Western Queensland, near the town of Cunnamulla. 

There will be three days of live of music, camping, campfires and the best natural hot springs, in the outback.

I am so honoured to be included in this amazing line up which includes the winner of Australian Idol 2024 Dylan Wright who is playing with his band Sons of Atticus, and also Jarrod Wrigley the winner of Tamworth’s Star Maker 2026.   Also playing will be the Bo’ness Brothers, Sarah Catania, Beth Lucas, Jaydin Shingleton, Dennis Comino, Jamahl & The JC Band and Claire Russell. 

In July, I’m heading up to North Queensland to Cape Gloucester Resort (up near the Whitsundays) for the Paradise Country Festival.

This one’s going to be a big one, with a great lineup including James Blundell, Travis Collins, Will Day, Brad Butcher, Luke Geiger, Tammy Moxon, Branded Men, Jacynta Lee, Kaitlyn Thomas, Joshua Vale… and me.  I feel so privileged to be include with all these amazing artists. 

It’s a country music festival right by the beach with three days of live music, good food, drinks and camping. It will be very family-friendly and a bit different to your usual festival.
